Alessio Isaia Wins WPT Venice Main Event

From February 3 to February 9, 2011, the World Poker Tour Venice played out at the Casino di Venezia, Cannaregio 2040, and Italy. Being the first Italian to win a major WPT Title was Alessio Isaia. Isaia swept the competition to finish with an advantage and was awarded €380,000 for the win. In addition to the top cash, Isaia also received a $25,500 seat for the WPT World Championship at the Bellagio and a bracelet.

In heads-up play, Isaia came up next to Hungarian Szabolcs Mayer. The heads-up battle lasted for eight long hours, the longest in WPT history. Eventually, Isaia knocked Mayer from the event. Mayer finished 2nd and claimed €228,990.

With 25 career cashes plus five 1st place wins, Isaia’s career earnings reached $1,300,932. And his money for the win in this year’s WPT Venice is his largest-to-date money finish.
